01Drive to Kanfanar (from Rovinj on the D303, from the A9 motorway via the Kanfanar exit).
02From the centre of Kanfanar, follow the signs for Dvigrad onto the side road that runs about 3 km west down into the Lim valley (Limska draga).
03A short gravel lane leads to a small car park right at the ruins.

The side road is narrow and winding. The car park is small – in high season, arrive early.

Train or bus to Kanfanar
Kanfanar has a railway station on the Istrian line and bus connections towards Pula. Services are sparse – check the return trip before you set off.
On foot from Kanfanar
About 50 minutes each way along the access road. Or the marked 10 km circular trail from the main square via the Kašteljir spring and the Lim valley.
By bike from Rovinj
The Štrika Ferata cycle and footpath follows the old railway line from Rovinj to Kanfanar (21 km); from there it's the side road down to the ruins.
Taxi from Rovinj
About 20 km, 30 minutes by road. Arrange the return pick-up in advance.

At the end of a short gravel lane, right below the walls by the church of St Mary of Lakuća.

On site

From the car park you climb through the gates of a double ring of walls into the ruined town: more than 200 roofless buildings, with the church of St Sophia at the top.
