Common questions, answered
A saltwater lake and seven pools between lava rocks and palms, laid out largely by César Manrique in the 1970s. Entry is €7 including a sun lounger. The water is unheated sea water, and in 2026 several pools were closed for repairs again and again.
Straight talk
What to know before you go.
- Pools are often closed. In May 2026 a pump failure shut six pools. We found no notice that they reopened, and visitors in September 2026 reported only one pool open.
- Full price anyway. The town's price rules rule out refunds for weather and breakdowns, even when half the pools are shut.
- No picnic. You may not bring food or drink in. Inside there are only the town-run bars.
- Cold water. The pools are filled with unheated sea water. Outside summer that is fresh.
- One ticket, one entry. If you leave the complex, even briefly, you pay again to get back in.
- The website is not official. lagomartianez.es, linked on Google Maps, says itself that it is not the official page. Prices and rules here come from the town.
Getting there
The complex is on the seafront of Puerto de la Cruz, between Playa San Telmo and Playa Martiánez. The Avenida de Colón along it is for pedestrians only.
By car
- 01Take the TF-5 to Puerto de la Cruz and follow the signs for the centre and Martiánez.
- 02Drive to the Pirámides de Martiánez garage on Avenida Aguilar y Quesada, below the Martiánez shopping centre.
- 03Walk about 400 m down to the seafront and the Avenida de Colón.
- 04For free parking use the Explanada del Muelle by the fishing harbour and walk about 15 minutes along the Paseo de San Telmo.
There is no parking at the lido itself. Don't circle the old town looking for a space; head straight for a garage or the harbour.
Other
From Santa Cruz and La Laguna
Line 102 runs frequently to Puerto de la Cruz bus station and takes about an hour. From there walk 1.1 km downhill or take city line 382.
From the airports and the south
Line 343 links both airports and Costa Adeje with Puerto, but only four times a day each way. Check the return trip before you go.
City buses
Lines 381 and 382 end at Plaza Reyes Católicos, about 180 m from the lido. The free Loro Parque train leaves from the same square.
Sightseeing bus
Since June 2026 a hop-on hop-off tour bus (about 60 minutes, 7 stops) stops at Lago Martiánez. The town has not published fares or frequency.

Check before you go
The town can close individual pools at short notice for cleaning, water changes or repairs. There is no live status online; the town announces closures and reopenings in its news.

On site
Inside you move between the big seawater lake, the smaller pools and Manrique's sculptures, among lava rock and palms. You collect the sun lounger included in the ticket and usually stay put: leaving means paying again.

The town sets the opening hours. Tap a time of day.
Morning
10:00Doors open at 10:00. In July and August parasols run out, so this is when to arrive.
00–10Before 10:00
Closed. The Avenida de Colón and the promenade are open, and you can look into parts of the complex from there.
10–12Morning★ Recommended

12–18Afternoon
Open until 18:00 from October to June. Your ticket is for one entry, so plan lunch at the bars inside.
18–19Early evening
Open until 19:00 from July to September only.

The pools are closed. The seafront promenade stays open.

Daily 10:00–18:00. The unheated sea water feels cold, especially in winter.
Bad weather
No refund if the weather turns or a pool breaks down. The town's price rules exclude both.
Local price
The €3 ticket is only for people born or registered in Puerto de la Cruz, not for all Canary Islands residents.
