A café forecourt on a bend of the TF-454 above Los Gigantes, looking north at cliffs the town gives as 600 m high and west to La Gomera. The viewpoint is free. Since the road was rebuilt in 2025 there are even fewer places to stop, and in 2026 building cranes stand in the view.

Straight talk

What to know before you go.

Cranes in the view. New buildings are going up between the viewpoint and the cliffs. Visitors in May and August 2026 complained about cranes in the middle of the view, and a photo from July 2026 shows two.
Even less parking. There were only 6–8 spaces before, and the Cabildo removed several in 2025. The safe option is the garage and a 1 km walk uphill.
A café forecourt. You look over roofs, satellite dishes and apartment blocks to the cliffs. It is a town viewpoint, not a wild one.
On the downhill side. The viewpoint is on the valley side of the road. Coming up from Los Gigantes you have to turn or cross a busy road.
Old descriptions online. Mentions of a large car park date from before the 2025 road works.

Getting there

The viewpoint is on the TF-454 (Avenida Quinto Centenario) where it comes down from Tamaimo into Los Gigantes, on the west coast.

01From the south take the TF-1 and then the coast road via Playa San Juan to Puerto Santiago, where the TF-454 climbs towards Tamaimo.
02From the north come via Icod and Santiago del Teide to Tamaimo and take the TF-454 downhill. The viewpoint is on your side of the road.
03Don't stop in the bend at the viewpoint: the Cabildo removed those spaces in 2025 because the bend is blind. Park in the Parking El Mirador garage in Los Gigantes.
04From the garage walk about 1 km uphill on the TF-454 pavement, around 13 minutes.

The roadside spaces at the viewpoint are few and the bend has no view of oncoming traffic. Coming up from Los Gigantes you have to cross the road.

Route to the car park

Other

From Costa Adeje
Line 477 is the direct bus, about 50 minutes. It runs every 35–45 minutes on weekdays and about every 70–80 minutes at weekends.
From Los Cristianos
Line 473 takes about 1 h 20 min via Costa Adeje and Playa San Juan and runs every 30–40 minutes.
From Puerto de la Cruz
Line 325 crosses via Icod and Santiago del Teide to Los Gigantes. Only a few trips a day; the whole line takes 1 h 45 min.
The stop only works one way
Quinto Centenario is served only towards Los Gigantes. Heading back, board at Correos, about 350 m away, or at the Los Gigantes terminus, about 250 m.
Staying for sunset
At weekends the last 477 back leaves before sunset in summer. The 473 runs late into the evening, so it is the safe choice after dark.

At the viewpoint

Few spaces

Roadside spaces, even fewer since the 2025 road works. Don't stop in the blind bend.

In town

Some street parking on Calle El Pino and Calle Flamboyant, partly time-limited.

On site

From the glass railing you look north along the cliff wall, over the rooftops to the harbour and west to La Gomera. A café with outdoor seating takes up most of the space.

Time there: ~15 min, longer with a drink at the café
Walk from car park: ~1 km uphill from Parking El Mirador; a few steps from the roadside spaces
Toilets: None public at the viewpoint; toilets in Parking El Mirador
Food & drink: Café at the viewpoint, outdoor seating only; more bars and restaurants from ~100 m
Wheelchair: Listed as accessible by the Tenerife tourist board; the walk up from the garage is steep

When is it worth it?

The viewpoint never closes. Tap a time of day.

00–11Morning

The sun is behind the massif and the cliff wall is in shade or backlit.

11–16Midday

The sun moves round, and in the early afternoon the cliffs start to catch the light.

16–21Late afternoon to sunset★ Recommended

Light from the south-west and west falls on the cliffs. In mid-September the sun sets around 20:10, almost due west.

21–24Night

Free access, but the cliffs are dark. The last bus south, the 473, leaves at 23:50.

Sunset times and light on the cliffs are our own calculation. The town itself recommends coming at sunset.

December

Sunset around 18:15, right behind La Gomera.

June

Sunset around 21:05, to the north-west towards Teno.

September

Sunset around 20:10, almost due west over the open sea.

Clear days

You can see La Gomera, La Palma and the Punta de Teno lighthouse in the distance.
