Common questions, answered

The road to the lighthouse at Tenerife's north-west tip is closed to private cars, and also to walkers and cyclists. You park in Buenavista del Norte and take bus 369: 20 minutes, €1.
Straight talk
What to know before you go.
- You can't walk in either. The ban covers walkers and cyclists too, not just private cars. The bus or a taxi are the only ways in.
- The last bus is at 19:50. Miss it and you need a taxi from Buenavista. Outside summer the town hall gives 19:00 as the end of access, so ask TITSA (922 531 300) which buses run.
- The phone number on Google Maps is not the lighthouse. +34 922 447 974 is the Teno Rural Park visitor centre in El Palmar, not a desk at the tip.
Getting there
You drive to Buenavista del Norte and take the bus for the last stretch along the TF-445.
By car
- 01From the north coast follow the TF-42 west to Buenavista del Norte. From the south you can also get there via Santiago del Teide and Masca (TF-436).
- 02Park around the Buenavista bus station (Estación de Guaguas) or near the Cruz de Toledo bus stop.
- 03Take bus 369 to Punta de Teno. It runs roughly every hour and takes about 20 minutes. Tourist day and week passes are valid.
- 04Note the return times before you get off. The last bus leaves Punta de Teno at 19:50.
Driving, walking or cycling past the closure on the TF-445 is not allowed.

Check before you go
Access on the TF-445 runs on fixed hours that change with the season. The road can close completely for weather alerts, maintenance or works, and bus 369 then does not run. The town hall publishes the access rules, TITSA the bus service and the Cabildo road closures.
Parking & arriving
On site
The bus stops at the tip, next to the lighthouse and a small stone bay. The lighthouse is automated and cannot be visited inside. The bay has no lifeguards and noticeable currents.
